Half Moon Yoga Studio Closed Until April
For safety’s sake in this rapidly changing coronavirus environment we are closing the studio.
As of Friday, March 14, all classes and events at Half Moon are cancelled.
We want to do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. In making this decision, we’ve paid close attention to the latest news, local health official’s recommendations and CDC guidelines, and feel this closure is in the best interests of our students, teachers and community.
We’ll re-open as soon as we responsibly can, and in the meantime, the studio and all the props will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Here’s why we are closing for the time being:
- The majority of our teachers and students are over 55, meaning we’re pretty much all in the high-risk category for this virus.
- As we move and breathe together in class, there’s no way to keep the recommended distance (six feet) between people. Social distancing is believed to be the most effective way to slow the transmission chain.
- It is virtually impossible to sterilize the studio and all the props adequately between classes, and to keep the studio as clean as need be for peace-of-mind.
- While students bringing in their own props sounds like a solution, it increases the potential for the infection to be introduced into the studio on less-than-sanitized blankets and mats.
We will reassess weekly, and keep everyone up-to-date on Half Moon’s Facebook page and by newsletter.
We’ll miss you. Please keep up your practice at home, get outdoors for walks, and take good care of yourselves; we hope to see you back in class in early April.
